How long have you been coming to PV?

We came to Puerto Vallarta for two weeks in 2015, and liked it so much we decided to return for two months in 2016 and 2017 and 2018. It's our intention to make this a permanent winter destination.

When and why did you join the IFC?

We attended lectures by the wonderful Dan Grippo and we were hooked. We also belonged to a similar group years ago in Chihuahua, Chihuahua and I know this type of organization does excellent work with charities.

Are you still working? If so what do you do?

I'm a career journalist and author whose first novel, Bird's Eye View, was published in 2014. It tells the story of a young woman from Saskatchewan who joins the air force in World War Two, travels to England, and becomes an interpreter of aerial photographs. I also maintain a regular non-fiction blog about Canadians in wartime called Wartime Wednesdays, which appears on my website. My new novel Wildwood, about pioneer life in northern Alberta, is being released in February 2018.

We are back in PV for the months of January and February. I'll be speaking to the group at 7 p.m. on February 23, about some of the fascinating stories I heard from World War Two veterans while compiling my new book, titled My Favourite Veterans. You can read more about this book, and my wartime novel, by visiting my website: www.elinorflorence.com.
